May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had,
Romans 15:5 NIV
Ohhhhhh, to be more like Jesus!! As my journey through life has progressed, each day I realize that my journey is one day closer to being able to be with those I love who completed their mission in life before me. Family, friends, and others become more important and precious. I treasure everything I am able to participate in and enjoy those moments with people who mean so much to me. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for giving me opportunities to share with others and help me achieve the mission You gave me.
When I see and hear about people who are struggling, burdened with debt, health issues, and relationships that are not beneficial to them, it hurts my heart and makes me feel sad. I often wonder if there is something I can do to help. I know that prayer is really all I have to offer because God IS the ultimate Source to correct the “wrongs” in our society. However, I believe we can and should make a difference. It is like the question and answer: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! We have to start with one person and continue until the change begins to happen. Start with family and friends, and continue to reach outward to others.
One example is to make new acquaintances feel more comfortable and welcomed. A smile, kind words, or a warm greeting can be enough to put a person at ease. How often do we have a smile on our face or an expression of gratitude! Even pretending to be happy can change the atmosphere around us. If you could see me when I am alone, I try to keep a smile on my face and a song in my heart. I know it sounds as if I am just a crazy woman, but I know it makes a difference in my heart, mind, and life. It truly makes me feel better.
Another example is to get deeply involved in God’s Word and in writings by Christian authors. The more we fill our minds with knowledge about God and His Plan, the less room we have in our lives for the evil and perverted ways of our world. The negative side of life will not burden us because we are thinking about and doing positive things! We can greet Our Heavenly Father with, “Mission Accomplished!” I am praying He will reply, “Well done My Good and Faithful Servant.” Please pray for me as I am praying for you!
