Sticks and Stones

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As a child, I was told the old saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me!” However, throughout my life, I must say, I have been hurt more with words than with sticks and stones. It is not necessarily the actual words that hurt, but the tone that is used or the manner in which they are spoken. Sometimes, words can sound disrespectful or judgmental. I know my words have hurt others, and I have had to ask forgiveness on many occasions! I always pray, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, Lord God, my Redeemer and Heavenly Father. “

The words we speak do affect those who receive them. We can encourage or discourage with our words. We can build up someone or destroy them with our words. I have always tried to be an encourager and not a stumbling block. I love everyone I meet, even though I do not always like things they do or say. We all are human and make mistakes, but I truly believe I can be better with God’s help.

I need to be careful with my words and ever mindful of My Heavenly Father’s Will. We can fill our churches to capacity with Believers if we are more like Jesus and speak the truth without being judgmental or discouraging. Love like Jesus ! Smile and speak with a purpose of building up and not tearing down. Our ultimate goal is to fill the streets of Heaven with BELIEVERS! Now, we need to be about Our Heavenly Father’s Business! Please pray for me, as I am praying for you!
