“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
Although we spend a lot of time shaming ourselves for sinful choices we have made in our past, that is not God’s will for us. When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, our guilt was erased, and the shame was washed away with His blood. We do not have to continue feeling guilt for what we have done or beat ourselves up for feeling worthless. When we continue to do that, we are giving into Satan’s desire to steal from us, kill us, and destroy us.
We need to rejoice and be glad because we have been given the gift of being completely cleared of guilt. Instead of wanting to sin more, we can experience more grace and change our entire life so that our hearts sing for Jesus and are full of praise and gratitude, and new actions will spring from a clean heart. We can be honest with others about our own tendencies because Jesus modeled honesty and truth when He walked this earth. We do not have to be afraid of being exposed because Jesus was without sin and took our punishment upon Himself and set us free. Jesus loved us so much that He laid down His unblemished life for us.
When I accepted Christ as my savior, I knew I was giving my life to him. I have made many mistakes as I have been making this journey, however, God is always with me and forgives my sins. I imagine Him shaking His Head and whispering, “Keep on the path. You can do this!”
Throughout our lives, we suffer many losses, but our joy is on its way! Our reward will be abundant blessings when we meet our Heavenly Father FACE to FACE.
