Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. — Galatians 6:7–9
Our lives are controlled by habits. Our Heavenly Father calls these habits “seeds”. We plant seeds that will grow into contributions that we make in our lives, families, friends, communities, and the world. If we plant these seeds wisely, we can make a difference in the lives with which we come in contact.
You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.— Galatians 6:7–8 NLT
If we do not like what we are reaping, we must change what we are sowing. If we do not like the harvest, we must change the seed. We must take an honest, prayerful look at the disappointing parts of our lives, and ask God to help us search our hearts. We can choose the habits that have led to each part of our life that is not the way we want it to be. We cannot have a victim mentality or blame others because that will not help. We have to take full responsibility by identifying the habits we have sown that led to our harvest and decide on a type of seed we will plant to get a better harvest.
Bad decisions lead to bad consequences, but good decisions means good consequences. Please pray for me as I am praying for you and all God’s people!
